This is the blurb I may use...

THE PARTING STONE

The Lake District fells bring together a group of friends who intend to   walk the notorious Striding Edge – a sharp ridge which has seen many dramas and deaths over the years.
A weekend of enjoyment takes an unexpected turn when an accident in Grisedale involves a mountain rescue team.
Surviving the weather can be hard enough, but will friendship survive when resentment, desire and jealousy simmer under the veneer of camaraderie?

  1. Sounds fab Jeanette, can't wait to read it, any chance of a sneaky outtake or two for your followers to wet our appetites a bit more (hint hint!)

  2. Thank you so much for that feedback. As a writer who has come from 'no-where' ie I didn't do an MA in Creative Writing...I won a local competition, then joined a writing group - I often feel intimidated by those better qualified. I have the grit and determination that gets me up Haystacks. (Sorry Wainwright) I'll just keep on beavering away until I get noticed. The plan is to carry on editing, which will take until about March, then seek out an agent.

I will put an excerpt up for you...just for you Sharon ;-)

  3. It's hard not to feel intimidated at times and I'm sure the best qualified writers feel it too, it's all very well having the qualifications but creativity is something you either have or you haven't - I think you can learn up to a level but it's something that comes from within and you need that passion, belief and determination. There are many different styles of writing and I would certainly say that there's a gap in the market for a story based around the Lake District which is a place so dear to many people's hearts especially those who can't get there as often as they would like, what better than to lose yourself in a book that takes you there. I admire you for going for it and wish you every success x

  4. That's just what I needed to hear! Those of us without a big ego need the encouragement. Thanks Sharon.
